Paolo Maldini was born on June 26, 1968, in Milan (Italy).
Family
He was the fourth of six children of Milan football coach and footballer Cesare Maldini (1932-2016) and his wife Marialuisa Mazzucchelli (1935-2016).
Footballer
Italian international who played as a defender, he won 6 Scudettos , 4 Italian Super Cups , 3 European Cups , 2 Intercontinental Cups , and 3 European Super Cups.
From 1988 to 2002 he played for the Italian national team, of which he was captain for eight years, participating in four World Cups (Italy 1990, USA 1994, France 1998, South Korea-Japan 2002) and three European Championships (West Germany 1988, England 1996, Belgium-Holland 2000).
Maldini is one of the footballers who has won the most titles in the 1990s: three European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, Italian leagues, and Italian Super Cups.
Position
He has been considered the best left-back in the world and one of the best defenders. Fast, very difficult to dribble, disciplined, are some of his many virtues.
Milan
During his 25-year career, he wore only the Milan shirt, with which he won 26 trophies: 7 league titles, 1 Coppa Italia, 5 Italian Super Cups, 5 Champions Leagues, 5 European Super Cups, 2 Intercontinental Cups and a FIFA Club World Cup.
During his career he won awards such as the World Soccer Award for Best Player in the World in 1994, Defender of the Year in Serie A in 2004, Best Defender in the UEFA Champions League in the 2006-07 season, the Marca Legend in 2009, among others.
He was the second best player in the world in 1995 and the third best European player in 1994 and 2003.
In 2008, FIFA awarded him the Order of Merit, and he was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
Marriage and Children
Maldini married Venezuelan model Adriana Fossa on 14 December 1994 in Villa Borromeo (Cassano d'Adda).
They had two sons, Christian (born 14 June 1996) and Daniel (born 11 October 2001), both also football players.
